This is a regular course registration guide.
Admissions
  • Qualification
    ◼ Foreigners and overseas Koreans who have graduated from high school or higher
  • Application Procedure
    ◼ Visa-free
        ◻ Nationals of countries where visa-free entry is permitted for 90 days
        ◻ To extend the period of stay after entering Korea, you must obtain a language training visa (D-4-1).
        ◻ Inquire at the immigration office about the availability of changes visa status in Korea
        ◻ Admission procedure
             ① Submit application form and required documents → ② Examination of submitted documents (Interview is only for the certain countries) →
             ③ Notice of acceptance and issue of invoice for tuition →④ Tuition Payment→ Entry & taking the placement test
    ◼ Short-term visa (C-3-1)
        ◻ Visa obtained by individuals by visiting a local Korean embassy or consulate (available to stay for 90 days)
        ◻ Certificate of admission for applying for the visa that is issued from the immigration can not be issued. (Certificate of admission from the school is possible.)
        ◻ To extend the period of stay after entering Korea, you must obtain a language training visa (D-4-1).
        ◻ Inquire at the immigration office about the availability of changes visa status in Korea
        ◻ Tourist (C-3-2, C-3-9) visa cannot be changed to the student visa(D-4-1).
        ◻ Admission procedure
              ① Submit application form and required documents → ② Examination of submitted documents (Interview is only for the certain countries) →
             ③ Notice of acceptance and issue of invoice for tuition →④ Tuition Payment→ Entry & taking the placement test
    ◼ Students visa for learning Korean (D-4-1)
        ◻ Must be enrolled in school for at least 6 months to get the visa
        ◻ Two years are total the maximum period of extension of D-4-1
        ◻ After the first six months, you can extend your visa in increments of three or six months.
        ◻ Admission procedure
             ① Submit application form and required documents → ② Examination of submitted documents (Interview is only for the certain countries) →
             ③ Notice of acceptance and issue of invoice for tuition →④ Tuition Payment → ⑤Issue the Certificate of admission for applying for the visa →
             ⑥ Applying for the visa → ⑦Obtaining a visa → ⑧ Entry & taking the placement test
                   ※ Depending on the country, it takes about over 1 month from receiving the application documents to obtaining a visa

Documents required for admission
◼ Visa-free or Short-term visa (C-3-1)
    ◻ Submitted documents will not be returned
    ◻ Additional documents may be requested during the document review process

        ◾ A copy of your passport or ARC(Alien Registration Card-if you have one)
        ◾ Two photos (3cm*4cm, colored)
        ◾ A copy of diploma/degree from the last school attended or the original certificate of enrollment
        ◾ A copy of Health insurance for foreigner students (If you do not have one, sign up in Korea)
◼ Students visa for learning Korean (D-4-1)
    ◻ Submitted documents will not be returned

        ◾ Final education certificate: the diploma/degree with apostille or the original copy of the consular certification of the Korean diplomatic mission of the diploma/degree
             (In case of China, submit academic background certification from the Ministry of Education)
        ◾ Study plan & Self-Introduction
        ◾ A copy of Health insurance for foreigner students (If you do not have one, sign up in Korea)
             ◽ If you stay for more than 6 months after your first entry, you are automatically enrolled in National Health Insurance.
        ◾ Original bank statement of over USD 10,000- It should prove the balance will stay there for 12 months such as an installment savings.
             ◽ Only the applicant's or parents' bank balance certificate can be submitted (siblings' relatives' balance certificates are not accepted)
             ◽ When submitting a certificate of bank balance under the name of the parents other than students, the certificate of family relations such as the Certificate of Birth must be submitted.
        ◾ Certificate of the Financial and identity guarantee (the original must be submitted)
             ◽ Request may be made if necessary by the KLI (Konkuk Univ. Language Institute).
             ◽ the form of the certificate of the Financial and identity guarantee- download
             ◽ Only Koreans are eligible for financial and identity guarantees
             ◽ Koreans who own real estate while paying monthly income tax of 150,000 won or more.
             ◽ the period of sponsorship: three years
             ◽ Notarization: After passing the admission documents screening, submit a notarized copy of financial and identification
             ◽ Required documents: an original certified copy of the register, an original withholding receipt, an original proof of employment
    ◻ Additional documents
        ◾ China
             ◽ One copy of the Family Household Register renewed within a year (if parents divorced, submit a divorce certificate)
             ◽ If the family relationship is not specified in detail in the Family Household Register, the original notarized the certificate of family relationship must be submitted
             ◽ Original bank statement of over USD 10,000- It should prove the balance will stay there for 12 months such as an installment savings.
        ◾ Other countries (Southeast Asia, Central Asia, Africa, etc.)
             ◽ Original family relationship certificate (family register and ID card, etc.)
             ◽ If the family relationship is not specified in detail in the Family Household Register, the original notarized the certificate of family relationship must be submitted
             ◽ Original bank statement of over USD 10,000- It should prove the balance will stay there for 12 months such as an installment savings.
             ◽ Financial verification documents (original proof of parental employment and income, copy of real estate registration, copy of vehicle registration, etc.)

         ◾ Tuition, application/assessment fees are only deposited when an invoice is issued or when the person in charge requests a deposit.
            ※Never deposit tuition, application/assessment fees before passing the document screening.

Insurance
◻ Language trainees are obligated to sign up for National Health Insurance 6 months after entering to Korea.
◻ Private insurance must be enrolled for the period that you don't have the National Health Insurance
    ◾ If you buy insurance in your home country
       ◽ Must be written in English
       ◽ Insurance period must be specified (subscribing at least 1 year from the date of entry)
       ◽ Coverage: Medical expenses, treatment expenses, prescription preparation expenses, hospitalization expenses, etc.

    ◾When applying for domestic international student insurance
       ◽ Insurance period is 1 year
           (can be canceled if you subscribe to National Health Insurance in the future)
       ◽ You must sign up before entering Korea and ask the person in charge.
       ◽ The cost is KRW 100,000/year. 
 ■ How to apply ◻ applying by group
     ◾Notice of group application and collection of documents from the administration office of the KLI
     ◾Due to the nature of group application, it takes more than a month
     ◾ Visit the school or immigration office to register fingerprints
◻ applying by individual
    ◾Those who want to quickly issue an alien registration card for personal reasons
    ◾Direct visit to the Seoul Immigration Office (Mok-dong) under the jurisdiction of Konkuk
       University
    ◾Fingerprint registration is possible when you apply for the ARC
        Reservation must be made before going to the immigration office
        (Book it through the HiKorea site (www.hikorea.go.kr))

■ Notes ◻ Must apply within 90 days from the date of entry
◻ Request for reissuance of lost items within 14 days
◻ When returning home after language training, return the alien registration card to the airport immigration
◻ If you wish to enter the country after returning during vacation, you must have your alien registration card. 
 
Re-registration
◻ Language trainees are obligated to sign up for National Health Insurance 6 months after entering to Korea.
◻ Private insurance must be enrolled for the period that you don't have the National Health Insurance

◻ Qualification
   ◾Those who have obtained a language training visa and are within 2 years of entering the country
   ◾Those with a short-term visa who wish to obtain a language training visa (depending on whether or not it can be changed in Korea by country)
   ◾Those who visa-free holders temporarily return to home countries and wish to return to Korea to study
◻Procedure
   ◾period of extension: Up to 6 months extension
   ◾Tuition: 3,600,000 KRW (a term-3months extention: 1,800,000 KRW)
 ■ How to apply ◻ applying by group
  ◾Notice of group application and collection of documents from the administration office of the KLI
  ◾Due to the nature of group application, applications are accepted 3-4 weeks before the end of the class.
     ◾Only those with an attendance rate of 85% or higher can apply
◻ applying by individual
     ◾Those who want to quickly extend their visa due to personal reasons
     ◾Direct visit to the Seoul Immigration Office (Mok-dong) under the jurisdiction of Konkuk University
    ◾ Reservation must be made before going to the immigration office
 (Book it through the HiKorea site (www.hikorea.go.kr)에)

2. the application (for the immigration)
3. the receipt of tuition payment
4. the certificate of registration with the attendance rate

■ Notes ◻ It takes about 3 weeks to return the ARC(Alien Registration Card) after visa extension in group.
◻ Students planning to return home countries are encouraged to keep the above period in mind.
◻ If you wish to re-enter Korea after returning during vacation, you must have your alien registration card.
